The transfer rumors are really starting to pick up this week. I think every American has been linked to AS Roma in the last 48 hours, including Howie, but two guys actually signed with new teams this week.
After not being re-signed at Wycombe Wanderers, Jon-Paul Pittman has signed a two-year deal with League Two side Oxford United. The 24-year-old forward scored 14 goals in 77 games with Wycombe Wanderers over the previous three seasons and will be joining a team that finished 12th out of the 24 teams in League Two in 2010-11.
Manager Chris Wilder said: “JP is a very positive player who has the ability to create and score goals. He has electric pace and gives us a balance to the squad. I am delighted to have beaten off stiff competition for his signature and he is a definitely a signing that will excite the supporters.”
Moving over to Germany, Western Illinois left back Oskar Gasecki has signed a three-year deal with Bundesliga champions Borussia Dortmund. The 20-year-old will start next season with Dortmund’s youth/reserve team in the German Regionalliga.
Gasecki hails from Gurnee, Illinois and is a Polish citizen that was born in South Africa, but is close to taking his American citizenship exam. So once he takes that exam could we have a new candidate for First Great American Left Back! (I really do need to get this trademarked)?
