A few links for the night
November 6, 2012 (12:42 AM) by Matt Benson

A few things worth checking out.

It looks like Rosenborg are planning on offering a contract extension to Mix Diskerud.  And a Norwegian report claims that Mix would be open to a Norway call-up, but he doesn’t think he will get one.

Staying in Norway, Brian Sciaretta caught up with Steve Clark to talk about his season with Honefoss.

Eric Lichaj picked up an injury over the weekend in Aston Villa’s 1-0 win over Sunderland.

Zac MacMath is headed back to Everton to train with the Toffees again this offseason.  MacMath has trained with the English club in the past and some might know that Everton’s goalkeeper coach, Chris Woods, is also the US goalkeeper coach (since Klinsmann took over).

Finnish club Haka will be debating over the offseason whether to keep Jordan Seabrook or not.  Seabrook played in 11 games with Haka as they were relegated from the Veikkausliiga to the Ykkönen.

Brent Latham, writing for ESPN FC (Insider), writes about the challenges Tab Ramos will face as the U-20s begin their 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup qualifying in February.

And finally, CONCACAF should be having a live online stream of the World Cup hexagonal draw on its website on Wednesday at 8 PM Eastern.

MLS players training in Europe list
November 16, 2011 (9:44 PM) by Matt Benson

Someone on twitter suggested keeping track of all these MLS players who are training in Europe this offseason, so I decided to keep this list, which I will update whenever a new name pops up.  So if you know of anyone I am missing, please leave the player and some kind of link to a news story on them training in Europe in the comments.

Here is who I can think of off the top of my head:

Juan Agudelo – VfB Stuttgart & Liverpool
Kyle Beckerman – Kaiserslautern
Bill Hamid – West Bromwich Albion
Sean Johnson – Everton
Perry Kitchen – SC Freiburg
Jeff Larentowicz – Bolton Wanderers
Zac MacMath – Everton
Amobi Okugo – SC Freiburg
Zach Pfeffer – TSG Hoffenheim
Tim Ream – West Bromwich Albion & Bolton Wanderers
Robbie Rogers – Kaiserslautern
Omar Salgado – Fulham
Brek Shea – Arsenal

GD Estoril is becoming the Fulham of Portugal (plus some other news)
August 31, 2010 (4:15 PM) by Matt Benson

GD Estoril snatched up another U-20 player with the signing of Greg Garza to a two-year deal.  The young left back had spent a couple seasons with Sporting Lisbon’s youth ranks, but he will join fellow Americans Tony Taylor and Bryan Arguez at Estoril (a Traffic Sports operated team).

Stuart Holden’s younger brother, Euan Holden, was passed over at St. Mirren of the Scottish Premier League after completing a trial.  Euan played at Vejle BK in the Danish second division last season before parting ways.

And finally, Yanks Abroad has a nice interview with U-20 goalkeeper Zac MacMath on his recent training stint with Tim Howard and Everton.  MacMath is currently at the University of Maryland and will probably be looking to go pro after his upcoming  junior season.
